As many of us know sometimes it can be challenging to stay motivated or driven to achieve our goals. Whether it be our New Year Resolutions, workout routine or a business venture. Staying driven no matter how random or unconventional a goal may seem unattainable. However, we hold power, the intelligence and the fuel to transform our ideas into reality. Yet when we’re on the road to greatness we can get sidetracked by disbelief, life’s obstacles or the fear of not succeeding. Thus, many times we put our goals on the back-burner and tend to lose focus on our endgame. Creating our ideal life is tough, when we’re not willing to make the critical sacrifices it takes to overcome the inevitable setbacks we will face alone the way. No matter how you define success, whether it’s money, job title, personal improvement. Here are five methods anyone can use to keep pushing down the road to success.
1. Create a Winning Environment:
Whether we’re trying to achieve greatness or not having inspiring, loving, caring and all around remarkable people around us is essential. Creating an environment of ongoing learning, growth, peace and love is where we can often discover our greatest joy. While we can sometimes become complacent or comfortable if our environment does not challenge us to do better and strive for success.
2. No More Distractions:
This method is often overlooked because there are so many distractions all around without us even realizing. Some of the more obvious ones would be any social media platform, TV, friends, family or a significant other. Other distractions could include but not limited to food, gazing out the window or just plain laziness. However, as we all know getting rid of all distractions is better said than done, and some distractions are necessary to relax and give our mind a break. Therefore, I use the method “at least an hour a day” to rid myself of all distractions to focus on a task, project or just to mediate for at least one hour. This allows for time to rid ourselves of the many interference’s we face on a daily basis.
3. Adopt a YES, I CAN Mantra:
Many times, our mind can be our worst derailment, because as a wise man once said “The mind is a powerful thing”. As we live in a world where being negative or pessimistic can be ingrained in us at an early age. Therefore, when doubtful thoughts creep in like “I knew this was never going to work out the way I planned” or “I’m not smart enough”. These thoughts tend to consume our mind making it even more difficult than it already is to achieve our goals. One method I’ve learned is to control these doubtful thoughts, and always remind myself I can and will achieve my heart desires. This mindset does take time to develop, but overtime it will become second nature.
4. The Sky is the Limit:
For majority of society since birth we have been consumed with certain beliefs which can keep us bound to a certain lifestyle. Thus, similar to the 18th century when whatever social class we were born into we would stay there for the remainder of our lives. However, this is not the case in today’s society where we can move up regardless of where we start. But due to our inherited and learned beliefs from society, many of us are convinced we can only go so far in life. This ideology is mainly false but does hold millions of people back from reaching their true potential. We can truly do anything we want if we don’t limit our own success.
5. Define Your Goals:
Determining our goals is important to understanding what we want out of life. Setting goals are set parameters around our dreams to set expectations or deadlines when we would like achieve our goals. It also gives us a bit of direction and motivation once we have defined exactly what we want to accomplish.
Final Thoughts
Majority of us are much closer to success than we might realize. Typically, it only takes a shift in our mindset and outlook on life to determine how successful we can be. Therefore, if we are struggling in any area of our lives one thing to always remember is, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal it is the courage to continue that counts.”

Jay,
What a great post! It is very specific and measurable. And I know the feeling of getting degrees and being unsure if you will use them. Degrees are never wasted. We still have control over our lives and what we do with it.

Thank you & that is so true I know some people who have two or three degrees who are still unsure what they want to do in life.

Jay, So true! I think it is a waste if you don’t at least attempt to pursue your passion even if it isn’t what you got your degrees in. Many of us get our degrees for a safety net (which is fine). But don’t lose site of your dreams or passions. It appears you are reaching for that. Keep at it!

I was just telling a friend of mind the same thing, because if we don’t follow our dreams/passions right now we might regret it one day. Thank you for sharing such wise words!

I like all your ideas for achieving. Not getting caught in the class system is a good reminder. Yes we don’t have class systems anymore just called by another name. We can break out and achieve.
