This has been a highly requested post. A lot of my readers have asked me “how have I grown my site, how did I get people to actually read my posts and what tips do I have about gaining traffic. This is a common issue we all have when we start are blog or website. I remember when I first started my site and I thought I would automatically get comments, likes and shares. Obviously this was not the case especially when there are millions of blog post being published every day and making your site stand out can be difficult. Today I will share five ways to increase blog traffic + two bonus tips to get people to actually “read” your blog post!
- Find a Niche:
This is an important find a niche it can be anything from fashion, tips/advice, lifestyle or anything you can think of. For example, if you like to write about comic books it will make it easier for your potential readers to find your site.
- Promote, Promote & Promote Some More:
This is imperative to constantly promote your blog not only on social media but on sites such as Reddit, Ezinearticles and Blogarama just to name a few. These are all great sites to help increase traffic
- Interact with Your Community:
This is essential to gaining more traffic by interacting on social media and blog communities. Make sure you set up your social media sites i.e. Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter and be active on these sites by posting at least three times a week. Also to gain more traffic commenting, reading and liking other blogs is crucial to increasing traffic.
- Be Tactical About Your Content:
Sometimes when we first start our blog or website we tend to just put content out without thinking and wonder why we don’t get the traffic we expected. The best thing you can do is simply create better content but we all know this better said than done. So practice and patience is key it took me about six months to fully grasp this concept. The term “content is king” is thrown around the internet everywhere you see about growing traffic or readers. But creating “better content” isn’t just about quality. It also means being more strategic with your content marketing efforts. Once you have a more strategic marketing plan your content will get more shares, likes and views.
- Write More Often:
This is an easy way to gain more traffic the more you post new content the more people will visit your site. As a disclaimer posting new content everyday can seem unconscionable, but for example you post once a week try to bump it up to at least twice a week.
Bonus:
- Understand your Audience:
What does your audience want? I used to struggle with this but understanding what your audience is important to keep them excited and coming back to your site. You can find this by interacting with your readers and asking them what type of content they would like see..
- Check Out Popular Blogs/Websites:
This is a great way to get readers to actually read your content. If you follow, read and interact with popular sites and look at who is reading their content. You can foucs your marketing to those same readers. There is a misconception if a “reader” reading one person’s who is in your same niche than the content you have they won’t be interested in. This is simply not true readers can enjoy more than one blog at a time.
Growing your blog traffic doesn’t have to be rocket science. Follow the steps above, and you too will be able to get more traffic. For more tips check out my post “7 Tips to Increase Website Traffic”.If you have any more suggestions to grow more traffic comment below & if you liked the post please share!

Thank you again for the tips. I still have a manageable size of followers – 1700. So I went through all the posts in my Reader everyday. Like 90% and comment on 10-15%. For each post, I have about 100+ likes and quite a few regular interactions daily.

Great, I have one question to ask. Should we use the content of our blog in WordPress to other blogging platforms(Just copy-paste it completely)? As I got an offer from another website to write blogs for them. Please suggest.

From my experience I would suggest writing fresh content because most websites do prefer new content. Also for SEO purposes it is better to keep your content on your blog. Hope this helps!
