Whether you are blogging for a hobby, for the community, promoting your business or to get your message out to the world. We all need readers to find our site and actually read the content we publish. However, generating traffic is easier said than done without having sufficient traffic we cannot turn our dream of quitting our job and blogging full-time into a reality. While there are numerous paid options to choose from, if you can do something for free why not. Here are five free ways to gain traffic to your blog!
This is a super simple tool anyone can use to boost shares on social media. First you sign in through your social media of choice Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. Once you’ve signed in you “boost” a post thus simply adding your post to the community queue to be shared. Now, in order to reach as many people as possible, you have to share other users content. The more you share the more reach you will get to your post.
- Find Where Your Readers and Customers Are Social
There are several social media platforms out there that can be overwhelming trying to keep up with all of them. Instead we should turn our focus to what we can handle maybe utilize two or three platforms. Then focusing on where your ideal reader hangs out and try to reach them first. An easy method I’ve found helpful called “following the follower” this works great on all platforms but especially on Twitter. Simply put this method is when you go to a blogger, influencer or anyone who has a large social media presence and follow who follows them. This method may sound simple and easy that’s because it is. This makes targeting your ideal reader easier which will bring more readers back to your blog.
- Be consistent
No matter what niche we’re in being consistent is the key to more traffic. I remember when I first started blogging I would go months in between blog post. Which would cause my traffic decrease almost 70%. Thus, staying consistent is a must, but don’t overdo it. If you’re just starting out try to post at least once a week.
- Add internal links & Comments
After we’ve been blogging for a while we might have about twenty blog post that have been published. This is always a great time to go back to older post and update them. By updating our post, we can add one or two internal links to our newer posts on a similar topic. These links will not only keep readers on your blog but are also mapping points for search engines.
- Commenting on YouTube & Facebook Vidoes
Commenting on other blogs is a great way to earn traffic to your blog. Another method that is simple and easy is commenting on YouTube and Facebook videos. This can give you traffic just by simply commenting your blog URL in the comment section. For example, let’s say you wrote a post about Tips that help you survive college. You can go to the search engine box on YouTube or Facebook and type in a some keywords i.e. College tips for incoming freshman, College tips 2017, College tips for class of 2020 etc. Then start at the top which will usually be the most popular video and comment the title to of your blog post and leave your URL link below it. This is a simple and easy way you can utilize to bring traffic back to your blog and also create back-links at the same time.

Great tips Jay. One we have found to be key is truly reading others blogs and exploring their sites and making sincere comments about their articles, pictures, etc. You can quickly tell the ones that just pop in and press like without truly reading the work bloggers put into their post. Its not about the numbers following it about the people that are interacting and building a relationship through their efforts. We gotta say its the encouragement of others like you Jay that keeps us going.
