5 Time-Tested Methods That Will Help Get The Success You Deserve

There are around 7 billion people in the world and 325 million people in the United States.  About 87% of people polled in a recent study cited how they would like to be successful in at least one area in their life. Whether it be in business, personal life, school, career or lifestyle most people want to be “successful” in whatever they do. However, achieving success in any area has its challenges i.e. unforeseen obstacles and setbacks that can deter us from obtaining our already predestined success. Goal setting is the true secret to success in any area of life. Setting your goals may seem simple, achieving them usually is another question altogether. A S.M.A.R.T. goal is defined as one that is specific, measurable, achievable, results-focused, and time- bound. According to its criteria goals should be simplistically written and clearly define exactly what we want to achieve.  Here are 5 methods that will help guide us to where we want to go!

  1. Identify your Exact Goal

Before we can do anything, we have to know what our goal is. We have to define things like what will achieving said goal intel. Try to be as specific as possible about what our end result will look like. Our success is centered around our ability to not just dream about our goal, but put actions around it. For example, if we wanted to create a successful business one of our first steps would be to follow the S.M.A.R.T goal technique to help guide us on the path of greatness. Regardless of what we want to do, it will require hard work, but without a clear mental picture, we’ll never have the focus vital to accomplish our goals.

  1. Pay the “Entry Fee”

Success takes unrelenting focus, enthusiasm, planning, and effort. When we first start out on the road of greatness it can sometimes be a rough experience. Often times when we have an idea or goal in mind it’s a rough concept to say the least. However, it is our starting point and is essential that we understand that there is always a “entry fee” for success. No matter what our goal is there is cost to be paid to get there. You might ask what is this “entry fee” it may be giving up an extra hour of sleep to work on your dream or the willingness to go to the gym three times a week. No matter what is paying this “fee” is almost impossible to get around if we want to reach success.

  1. Focus on a Specific Task Everyday

Once we decide what our goal is and the necessary steps we need to take to get there. We have to adopt a daily focus or mindset that can help keep our eyes on the prize and focused on success. The old habits that we have kept for years can take over our goal if we don’t utilize and implemented this new mindset. Success as a wise man once told me is “an everyday event” we have to recommit to our goals every single day. This is one of the main reasons people read positive message every day to reaffirm these thoughts.

  1. Find your Inner Passion

One of the most powerful tools that we all have in our “success tool box” is having real passion for our goal. Contrary to many articles, books and some success guru’s passion is certainly not the only thing you need for success, but it can benefit us especially when times get tough and we feel like giving up on our goal.

  1. Take Consistent Action

Like in most areas of our life the more consistent we’re at something the more successful we’ll be. The saying “practice makes perfect” really does have some validity when we’re going after a goal, dream or passion. By taking one small step after another and not getting discourage after setbacks and disappointments. We will find ourselves closer to our end goal.

“Without action, there can be no success”

Final Thoughts

In the end if we take one small action each day, it will add up over time and make a huge difference in achieving our goals. We have to always remember that setbacks, obstacles and naysayers will all be along the path of success, but they’re there to make us stronger for the long haul. Remember we can create whatever life we want. The secret is to go out there and stop talking about what you want to do and actually do it.What challenges have you’ve faced on the road to success. I listened to a Ted Talk yesterday about gaining control of your free time, and one of the points made was that if we treat our priorities as emergencies (broken water heater) and put them into our schedules first, the rest of the world will figure out itself. It’s a great video.

  13. This is definitely a well written and interesting piece! Having studied Business at college, there was definitely a big emphasis on learning how to set S.M.A.R.T goals. It’s definitely some brilliant advice – I was so bad at setting really awful goals before. I’m going to University later this year, and I’ll be sure to use this blogpost to help stay on track when it comes to work!
