Take The Next Step: Journey To Success

We all make decisions that affect our lives every day. Rather its where to live, what career path we want to take, who we spend our time with and something as simple as what food to buy from the grocery store.  Often times we base our choices on temporary gratification that might be right choice for the moment but might not give us that long lasting happiness we all want.

To achieve any type of success you must start from the beginning just like when you first started school and you went to pre-k. Success is not an isolated event it’s a process that happens over time.  No matter if you want to start a new business, new workout plan or you may just have a new idea or path you want to purse. The journey to success is a process of working through each phase to arrive at the next one with each phase encouraging and inspiring you to keep moving forward.

Frequently the path to move closer towards success is simple taking the next logical step. It can be easy to get caught up in making elaborate plans and searching for instantaneous success. This approach often times results in lack of motivation and a lot of procrastination with very little success. Majority of the time success comes over time with a lot of hard work, sacrifice and dedication. Without these three things finding any type of success will be difficult.

Here are five tips that can help you take the first step to success:

  1. Determine What Success Means To You:

Think deeper about the interview question we all have gotten countless numbers of times.  Determining what success is to can help you find the best path to achieve the success you are looking for.

  1. Step & Plan Towards:

After you decide what you want to achieve you have to take that first step to and step towards your goal. When you are starting in a new endeavor, it can be easy to think you know more than you actually do. This is why sometimes are plans collapse on execution. In our mind they held up, but when applied it to the rigors of reality they crumble. Taking the next step doesn’t have this problem. You learn, test and improve in the real world.

  1. Conquer Fear:

Taking the first steps to you accomplish your goal fear can play a major factor in doing so. It can take over your mind and make anyone doubt if they can reach the level of success they want. Once you get past this fear and self-doubt you can accomplish anything you want.

  1. Take Action:

To succeed you have to start. List the action steps you need to take to get to where you want to go, to do what you want to do. Will these steps all be the right ones? Maybe and maybe not. But you won’t know for sure until you start moving forward.

  1. Follow Your Heart:

No matter what you want to accomplish in life anything is possible if you are truly passionate about it. Don’t let naysayers tell you not do pursue wants in truly in your heart. Go after whatever it is and don’t look back.

The first step towards achieving any type of success can be difficult you will probably experience adversity in the beginning. Which in some cases can be discouraging but I want encourage everyone reading this that anything is possible. You can literally do anything you set your mind to do.  If you are truly passionate about your goal then don’t anyone or anything stop you from attaining it.In the comments below tell me what goal have you set and have you taken the first step towards it? I have always felt that number one is so important. Too many people have no idea what their goals are. They have no idea what they’re going to do with their lives, or even what would bring them satisfaction. Knowing where you’re heading is important so you can plan on how to get there.

For me, forming the plan is the most important part. Writing it out and figuring out what needs to be done is the calming part of the whole process for me.

Another great post Jay. I think a huge part of why people feel like they aren’t where they want to be or aren’t getting anywhere is because they haven’t defined what success is to them. There ae very few times in life you’ll find you’re destination if you don’t know what you’re looking for.

Love it! It is so true how failure will almost always present itself in the beginning… but then it is up to you whether you cross that initial adversity and continue to work hard to become successful, or if you just give up. You just got to conquer fear and get over failure, and suddenly the rest seems so easy! 😀 Love your post!

This was awesome. Success is often hampered if we allow fear to get in the way, but like you said we have to work through each phase, and push ahead. I find this to be very encouraging.

  25. I loved this post! I just have one question about conquering my fear: How do I get over my fear of not being good enough? Thank you in advance!

Thank you & to answer your question there a few ways to overcome this. One is to build your confidence by reminding yourself you’re awesome, amazing and certainly good enough. These are great reminders to get over this fear. Also reading and listening to positive messages i.e blog, articles and podcasts. Another way to overcome self-doubt is by to first accept we have this problem and then let it go. Now I know this is easier said than done, but it is important. Once we truly let go of our fears the possibilities are endless. I hope this helps!
