Are you as healthy as you should be?
Many of us if answering this question honestly would say no or it could be better. Majority of us wants to live a long, healthy, meaningful life. But the unforgiving truth is, it’s not that easy at all. Many times depending on our economic status or background can determine our lifestyle without us evening realizing it. Thus it can be frustrating to say the least trying to live a healthy lifestyle. Especially when we often have other pressing concerns in our lives i.e. bills, family issues or career apprehensions. Choosing to follow a healthier lifestyle can promote a life full of quality and longevity. By implementing these five methods it can start anyone on the road to a heathier life.
- Stop Eating Processed Food:
This method is better said than done, but if we can at least cut out some of the processed food we eat. It can go a long way in improving our overall health and prevent unwanted weight gain.Processed foods can also be the cause of behavioral problems i.e. hyperactivity, weight gain and certain cancers.
- Exercise More Often:
This concept can be often heard on social media, blogs and articles that talk about exercising more and it’s benefits. The idea of going to gym before or after work for some people can be challenging and deemed impossible. Also with all honesty who wants to get up at four in the morning to go run on a treadmill? So in light of that we can incorporate exercise into our daily routine. One way is by taking the stairs instead of the elevator, walk rather than drive when it’s safe to do so, do a set of sitting leg lifts under your desk, or take the dog for a walk. By incorporating exercise into your day, you’ll quickly reap the healthy benefits.
- Get an Adequate amount of Sleep:
This is sometimes overlooked when we think of healthier lifestyle. Getting an adequate amount of sleep is imperative when we’re trying to improve our overall health. Getting sleep is crucial for weight reduction and health. According to many trainers and health professionals sleeping at least eight hours a night will help promote regular glucose metabolism and limit weight gain.
- Drink More Water:
As adults, we often spend more time drinking coffee, energy drinks and soda than water. Water is important for healthy organ function, lubricated joints and even strong bones. If you can’t give up the caffeinated drinks altogether at least drink them in moderation.
- Healthier Snack Choices:
This can be an easy change if your anything like me and love eating throughout the day rather at work or home. This can be an easy method to implement healthy snacks us meet our daily nutritional needs. Snacks such as fruits, vegetables, reduced fat dairy products and whole grains are the healthiest choices. Try to cut out snacks that are high in sugar or saturated fats i.e. chips, cakes, candy and chocolate.

Great post! I love your realistic approach to making healthy changes–I’m in the category of people who would probably never trade an extra hour of sleep for a morning run, so it’s good to start thinking of other exercises I can fit in throughout the day!

#1. That fruit plate is gorgeous. #2. Just wanted to suggest another healthy snack that i do all the time – I’m on the road a lot and away from home a lot, but something that helps a ton is hardboiled eggs! I just do a bunch at a time and peel them and stick them in the fridge in little baggies so it’s easier to just grab when im ready ;))

The simplest advice is always the best… and the hardest to listen to! Thanks for sharing; I am working towards a Whole Food plant-based diet slowly but surely.

It’s crazy how these 5 simple things really do work. I’ve done all 5 of these at times and lost a ton of weight and got healthier. (85lbs to be exact) but when I don’t do all of them or more importantly any of them I gain weight and feel terrible. It’s a lifestyle choice. But this 5 things combined make a huge difference.
