What Do You Really Need to Fulfill Your Dreams?

To fulfill our dreams is somewhat of a subjective idea, because we can decide what exactly our dream is and determine if we have fulfilled it or not.  Many aficionados, life coaches or people who are actively chasing their dreams “dream chasers” might advise us to do certain principles or steps to truly fulfill our dreams.  So through research I have discovered five ways or steps to make our dreams a reality.

  1. Always Keep Your ‘Bigger Picture’ Insight:

Visualizing the desired outcome can be a powerful motivator. Whenever you feel like quitting, just remind yourself why you’re doing this. Think about that wonderful feeling of seeing your task completed.

  1. Develop a Success Consciousness:

Simply put all a “success consciousness” is a mantra of positive thinking, great attitude and mind-set. We have to have this own our road to success. In my experience to help with developing this mindset by reading positive or motivational books, articles or quotes at least three to four times a week.

  1. Don’t Let Obstacles or Naysayers Discourage You:

Obstacle and naysayers are always around us and are a never-ending hurdle that we have to cross. However once we adopt a “No matter what happens or who doesn’t like it… I will achieve my dream” this attitude goes a long way to accomplishing our dreams.

  1. Use all Your Resources:

Many times when we are first pursing our dream we have no clue where to start. First don’t be shy about finding apps and other software that can help you get started. Also nine times out of ten whatever you want to achieve somebody else out there has already done it. So reach out to as many people as possible.

  1. Never Give Up:

Yes there will be ups and downs, but if this is truly our dream we must never quit even when the “going gets tough”. I have truly seen this in my life as I have had to face different obstacles, but one thing that I always try to remember is “No matter what I  go through I will never ever give up”.

So, the question remains, what do you really need to fulfill your dreams? Well, that’s actually up to you. So in the comment section, I’d be interested to hear what are your goals & dreams? And what steps or actions are you taking to achieve them?

  1. Solid advice coming from the Colby camp. I would humbly add only my personal application. Until I met God face to face in the person of Jesus Christ, I didn’t even have a direction in life and I was terrified of success and the responsibility that came with it. But when truth and love was revealed in my heart, I was given purpose. At that moment God began to orchestrate my future in ways I never imagined. He put dreams, visions and goals in my heart so big that I knew that I could never accomplish these on my own; which is the beauty of trusting and resting in God. He does all the hard work and all we have to do is step into what He has prepared and be amazed at the POWER of the Living God!

  3. I dig it, man. Traction only sticks with proper mindset and I think that the positive reinforcement of our passions is truly the driving force behind everything we do.
For me, I am the leader of the health initiative of the music industry. I’m spearheading a movement to dispel the stigma that musicians and industry professionals don’t give a damn about their health. We do and I am the one to bring about the awareness and help promote health so we can all survive the party a little bit longer.
My action plan has been in full force since he springtime, taking steps to network with the right professionals and organizations, building quality relationships and establishing my expertise in the fields of movement, nutrition and mindset coaching. I have completed my first book geared towards my market of music industry professionals to help advocate for a change in the way we all see the correlation between health and the profession. The next step is to continue writing and seek publishing, speaking and other networking opportunities within the community and gradually build up my portfolio. All I ask is that if the word could get spread about what I’m doing, I can help more people in the industry, faster.
That’s my dream and how I’m pursuing it. Feel free to share!

The first thing I do when thinking about a goal is to PRAY. God knows my heart. I ask Him for guidance and wisdom in whatever goal I may be trying to achieve. 🙂

  6. Hi,
I am new to blogging world. I came here when I decided I shall do something on my own, something that gives a sense of fulfilment and of course to earn money (its a confession). My first step is to know if I have it in me or not and I joined WordPress. And it gave me an opportunity to meet wonderful people like you. And your article today is surely an inspiration. My dream is to set up my own website and have loads of followers (just like you :), you are an inspiration for me) and write a book someday. So I am first working on strengthening my base in writing because I am not a professional. I have been unemployed since seven years (after marriage and relocation), my dream is to have my own identity. Just one question, do you find my work worthy. Please let me know areas of improvement. I am keen on learning.

Great post! I especially liked how concisely you describe the different concepts you point out. One thing I would add to the list is execution and doing the simple things. So much of achievement is just doing the small, seemingly inconsequential, and inglorious tasks on a daily basis. The secret is that there is no secret. Simply habits.

Great points here Jay. I think my biggest issue with pursuing my dreams is self discouragement. I am engaged in a number of things I enjoy doing but taking it a step further is taking forever. For now I keep doing what I can while sorting out what direction I should really be headed. Thanks for sharing.

Jay I have to agree with all five.
I have never accomplished a dream or a goal without seeing myself actually there. I remember once back in the day when I was studying hard for my Stationary Engineer’s license I dreamed I was an operator.
    That’s when I stopped studying.
When I took the state test I missed only two questions.
What we tell ourselves is critical when it comes to fulfilling dreams. And those naysayer actually motivate me believe it or not.
I think it comes from when I was a kid my big sister told me don’t never let someone tell me what I can’t do.
    It’s part of my DNA…lol
Your posts always keep a brother positive and motivated.
    Have a great weekend!
