7 Reasons Why People Don’t Start Their Own Business

Starting a business is supposed to be highly rewarding, exciting and challenging. You get to be your own boss, you get to set your direction and pursue the opportunities you are interested in. If you are working from home, you can even work in your pajamas or anytime you want.Yet not everyone can pursue entrepreneurship. Here are some common reasons why people don’t start their own business.

1. Fear of failure:

Starting a business is a big risk sometimes it will work, and sometimes it may not. Many are afraid of starting a business because of the looming fear that their business will fail.  This fear may result from feelings of inadequacy, or they may have experienced past failures in their lives that they do not want to replicate the feeling with the very real risk of failure in starting a business. They may also feel incompetence, and plagued by self-doubts.

2. Inadequate resources to start a business:

They have little to no money to start a business. They also do not know where to find the capital they need to start a business. They have savings, no rich families and friends to borrow from, and they have poor credits that will not pass the banks’ lending criteria. So even if they want to start a business, the lack of capital is a huge stumbling block for them.

3. No exposure to entrepreneurship:

They have never been exposed to entrepreneurship so they did not consider starting a business to be an option for them. Everyone in their lives has worked, or is working, for someone else and so they have been conditioned to think that being an employee is the only path for them. Many entrepreneurs have parents or relatives who have started or run their own businesses, inspiring them to do the same and pursue the paths of entrepreneurship.

4. Don’t want the stress of entrepreneurship.

Starting and managing a business can be very stressful. It typically means understanding the market, developing the right products that will address the needs of the target market, and possessing the skills needed to jumpstart and run the business. All of these activities can be challenging, especially if things are not going well —  from problems raising capital for the venture to generating more sales to finding distributors to the products.

5. Passion for their Jobs:

They found passion for their work in their jobs. They love their current jobs, and there’s nothing in the world they want to do but work in their current jobs. They already feel that the corporate world gives them the challenging, exciting environment that they crave. There’s no reason to resign and start a business because they have already found the perfect job for themselves.

6. Lifestyle choice:

They have made the conscious decision to live with less, where they deliberately reduce their consumption and cashflow. Hence, they do not see starting a business — and potentially earning significant amounts of money — as supportive of the lifestyle they wanted.

7. Views starting a business as tough, hard work:

There are people who work 16-hour workdays, or work in two or three jobs (aside from their full time jobs). But despite the hard work and the long hours they put in, they still have barely enough to live by. They are still living paycheck to paycheck. If they are already working that hard to earn a decent livable income, they think that starting a business requires double that effort, which they don’t want. Never give up on your dreams or goals I expound on this on my post “Dreams: Are They Worth It?”

How Do People Express Love?

Love is one of the most profound emotions known to human beings. People express love in a variety of ways. This diversity in love and loving has made expressing and finding love in today’s society a bit complex for some people. Heterosexual love and romance in this new era reflects a change that has been evident in the roles of woman and men since the emergence of the contemporary women’s movement.  Traditional roles may have been characterized by the woman being submissive and passive to her husband. However in today’s society roles have changed in a dramatic way. This change has resulted in a great deal of anxiety and uncertainty as couples try to balance traditional norms with current developments in the absence of clear-cut rules and guidelines. For some, romantic relationships are the most meaningful element in their lives, providing a source of deep fulfillment. The ability to have a healthy, loving relationship is not innate. A great deal of evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship begins in infancy, in a child’s earliest experiences with its mother and farther. Which the child relies on to meets their needs for food, care, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Those relationships are not destiny, but they appear to establish patterns of relating to others. Failed relationships happen for many reasons, and the failure of a relationship is often a source of great psychological anguish. Most of us have to work consciously to master the skills necessary to make them flourish.  I will explain three reasons why people have a hard time expressing their love.

  1. Fear of Disapproval and Rejection

A lot of people are terrified of rejection and ending up alone that you would rather swallow your feelings and put up with something or someone who really doesn’t make you happy rather than taking the chance of making anyone mad at you.

  1. Low Self-Esteem

You believe that you are not entitled to express your feelings or to ask others for what you want. You think you should always please other people and meet their expectations.

  1. Emotional Perfectionism

You believe that you should not have feelings such as anger, jealousy, depression, or anxiety. You believe that you should always be rational and in control of your emotions this can become a major issue when trying to express love.

Increase Social Media Shares

Social media sharing is a big aim for many businesses or marketers looking to build their brand, extend their reach, and generally make the most of their online marketing efforts. This is a great tool to use to gain more traffic or conversions for your business or website. However this is easier said than done because using social media to its potential can be challenging. Sometimes you might write a new post, you share it on your social media of choice and see your shares and likes on “0”. This can be very disappointing and discouraging because your content might be great but it’s still not getting the response you want. Getting massive social shares is something that most content marketers and bloggers want to accomplish because we all know it can play a big role in growing a website. Today, I want to share some strategies that can help maximize the number of social shares from social media.

  1. Install social sharing buttons:

The goal is to make social sharing as easy as possible for your visitors; they’re more likely to share your content if it only takes one click. Bright, colorful social sharing buttons are more likely to be clicked, just as certain download buttons are more likely to be clicked on landing pages.

  1. Post when your audience is most active:

Think carefully about when you post your content for optimal social sharing. Traditionally it’s been said that the best time to post content is mid-morning and mid-afternoon on weekdays, but it depends on your audience. For example, if your main market is working woman between the ages of 23-35 you might not want to post during the hours of eight to five because typically that’s work hours.

  1. Make your content visually attractive:

Add images, infographics, or quote-image overlays that are highly entertaining and fun to share. Blogs that include a nice image are way more likely to be shared.

  1. Rewrite That Headline:

I hate to say it but 99% of blog post headlines are accurate but extremely dull. This hurts the blog before anyone even reads the content.

  1. Post consistent:

Many industry influencers stay top of mind with their social media followers by curating valuable, unique or interesting content. In fact, they often won’t read whole posts before they share. If your post is not designed in a way that makes it easy to quickly grasp the key points, they won’t bother to skim it or share it. In addition, many of your regular readers don’t have time to dig into large blocks of text. Think bold headers and key points (2-3 sentences) for each versus dense paragraphs.

  1. Build Your Social Foundation:

In order to maximize sharing of your content, it helps if you have a large set of followers on one or more social platforms that make sense for your brand. Also don’t expect people to be jumping over each other to share your content if you’ve never comment on, like or share other people’s content. By building up some online goodwill, you’ll increase interaction with your content, including shares. Don’t forget to help others spread their great content well before you ask people to share your content!

  1. There’s a difference between begging and asking:

Begging makes you sound desperate. When you sound desperate when asking people to share your content, they’ll most likely ignore it. Often times, the reason people beg is because they feel that they haven’t measured up. In the context of online marketing, it could mean that your content isn’t helpful or inspiring.

  1. Automatic shares:

You can use tools such as Dlvr.it where you specify the source and the destination.  The source would be your site, and the destination would be their social media profile

It’s great to get your content shared but you do need to put the work in.  Always remember that social media is great for the discovery phase of the buying cycle, and people need to know about you before they can buy from you. I encourage anyone reading to not get discouraged and keep a positive mindset. If you try these ways I have listed or have found other ways to increase your social shares comments below and if you like this post, please share!

Surround Yourself With People: Who Want To See You Win

People have a huge impact on our lives we interact with people on a daily basis. Whether we’re around our family, friends, co-workers or just people we see at the grocery store. People have an impact on our lives combined with the images we see in the media. Who we spend our time with and what messages we allow to enter our minds is vital to taping into our predestined success.

Everyone we spend our time with doesn’t have our best interest at heart. Some people can be very judgmental or give off negative energy. Which can cause us to develop negative thoughts that can turn into limiting beliefs that derail us from our goals. A wise woman once told me “You should think about the people you’re spending time with the same way you think about what you eat and how you’re exercising.”

Greatness: Don’t Settle For Less

Are you currently working at a job where you hate going to every morning? Have you been working there several years but have hardly gotten any pay raise? Are you chasing your dreams? These are all great questions to ask yourself if you think you are settling for less in life. If you can relate to any of these above, then you might have a case of “settling for less”.  I can relate to these same emotions because there have been numerous times in my life were I to settled. Yes, there are times when settling is necessary and not even a big deal. For example trying to save money for a down payment then you might have to settle for the budget vacation or no vacation at all. But that’s not really the kind of ‘settling’ I want to talk about today. I want to talk about the areas of your life where you should never settle. These are the important parts of life that deserve holding out for the things you want and deserve. Personally when I started to purse my dreams and not settle some people where very positive and supportive of it, but there have been a few naysayers that could potentially make me second guess myself. Then I realized in life there are always going to be some naysayers but it’s only up to me to determine my life. Overcoming this  can be challenging, because most of us tend to take the safer route “we settle”. Sometimes our minds like to play tricks on us then turn into overdrive with thoughts like: “I need to settle with this job even though I hate my employer because otherwise I won’t be able to financially support myself”, “I can’t try something new because it’s too hard and I’m scared to fail”. The problem with all these thoughts is that they are just thoughts based on fear. They are limiting and can be debilitating to our being. They hold us back from really truly following the calling of our soul; to live a life filled with all the joy, love, and fulfillment that we have always dreamed of experiencing. I just want to encourage everyone reading this to embrace change and not be fearful of following dreams or trying to better your life. Here are five ways to strive for greatness and not settle for less than you deserve.

  1. Have a mission:

Have you ever deeply thought of what you really want to do in life? If not than this is very important because without a mission or plan in life you can get lost and confused on what you really want to achieve.

  1. Step outside of your confront zone:

This can be very difficult for some of us because we get comfortable in our daily lives and choose not to stretch ourselves to try new and perhaps strenuous things that we might really want to do. Sometimes we are not quite sure if we should take that leap of faith and do so. Well I want to encourage you to take that step and go after what in life that you know deep down that you want to do.

  1. Stop limiting yourself:

What is holding you back to pursue your dreams? Identify these limiting beliefs, and burst the bubble. Don’t think you can’t achieve something because of naysayers or your own personal thoughts. Prepare your mind for greatness.

  1. Forgive yourself for your past mistakes:

This is very important when you first start to change your life you have to forgive all your past failures and mistakes, forgive yourself and all others involved.  Then you will be able to truly become great and leave settling for less in the past.

  1. Surround yourself with passionate people:

Build a network of passionate, positive people, and frequently spend time with them. Find people that are striving for excellence like you. Discuss your passions and values with them. I have tried to do this as well and it has been somewhat challenging so I would like to invite anyone reading this who wants to change their life and stop settling for less. Comment below and we can connect and start building a network of positive people.

Take The Next Step: Journey To Success

We all make decisions that affect our lives every day. Rather its where to live, what career path we want to take, who we spend our time with and something as simple as what food to buy from the grocery store.  Often times we base our choices on temporary gratification that might be right choice for the moment but might not give us that long lasting happiness we all want.

To achieve any type of success you must start from the beginning just like when you first started school and you went to pre-k. Success is not an isolated event it’s a process that happens over time.  No matter if you want to start a new business, new workout plan or you may just have a new idea or path you want to purse. The journey to success is a process of working through each phase to arrive at the next one with each phase encouraging and inspiring you to keep moving forward.

Frequently the path to move closer towards success is simple taking the next logical step. It can be easy to get caught up in making elaborate plans and searching for instantaneous success. This approach often times results in lack of motivation and a lot of procrastination with very little success. Majority of the time success comes over time with a lot of hard work, sacrifice and dedication. Without these three things finding any type of success will be difficult.

Here are five tips that can help you take the first step to success:

  1. Determine What Success Means To You:

Think deeper about the interview question we all have gotten countless numbers of times.  Determining what success is to can help you find the best path to achieve the success you are looking for.

  1. Step & Plan Towards:

After you decide what you want to achieve you have to take that first step to and step towards your goal. When you are starting in a new endeavor, it can be easy to think you know more than you actually do. This is why sometimes are plans collapse on execution. In our mind they held up, but when applied it to the rigors of reality they crumble. Taking the next step doesn’t have this problem. You learn, test and improve in the real world.

  1. Conquer Fear:

Taking the first steps to you accomplish your goal fear can play a major factor in doing so. It can take over your mind and make anyone doubt if they can reach the level of success they want. Once you get past this fear and self-doubt you can accomplish anything you want.

  1. Take Action:

To succeed you have to start. List the action steps you need to take to get to where you want to go, to do what you want to do. Will these steps all be the right ones? Maybe and maybe not. But you won’t know for sure until you start moving forward.

  1. Follow Your Heart:

No matter what you want to accomplish in life anything is possible if you are truly passionate about it. Don’t let naysayers tell you not do pursue wants in truly in your heart. Go after whatever it is and don’t look back.

The first step towards achieving any type of success can be difficult you will probably experience adversity in the beginning. Which in some cases can be discouraging but I want encourage everyone reading this that anything is possible. You can literally do anything you set your mind to do.  If you are truly passionate about your goal then don’t anyone or anything stop you from attaining it.In the comments below tell me what goal have you set and have you taken the first step towards it? If you liked this post don’t forget to share!

What Do You Really Need to Fulfill Your Dreams?

To fulfill our dreams is somewhat of a subjective idea, because we can decide what exactly our dream is and determine if we have fulfilled it or not.  Many aficionados, life coaches or people who are actively chasing their dreams “dream chasers” might advise us to do certain principles or steps to truly fulfill our dreams.  So through research I have discovered five ways or steps to make our dreams a reality.

  1. Always Keep Your ‘Bigger Picture’ Insight:

Visualizing the desired outcome can be a powerful motivator. Whenever you feel like quitting, just remind yourself why you’re doing this. Think about that wonderful feeling of seeing your task completed.

  1. Develop a Success Consciousness:

Simply put all a “success consciousness” is a mantra of positive thinking, great attitude and mind-set. We have to have this own our road to success. In my experience to help with developing this mindset by reading positive or motivational books, articles or quotes at least three to four times a week.

  1. Don’t Let Obstacles or Naysayers Discourage You:

Obstacle and naysayers are always around us and are a never-ending hurdle that we have to cross. However once we adopt a “No matter what happens or who doesn’t like it… I will achieve my dream” this attitude goes a long way to accomplishing our dreams.

  1. Use all Your Resources:

Many times when we are first pursing our dream we have no clue where to start. First don’t be shy about finding apps and other software that can help you get started. Also nine times out of ten whatever you want to achieve somebody else out there has already done it. So reach out to as many people as possible.

  1. Never Give Up:

Yes there will be ups and downs, but if this is truly our dream we must never quit even when the “going gets tough”. I have truly seen this in my life as I have had to face different obstacles, but one thing that I always try to remember is “No matter what I  go through I will never ever give up”.

So, the question remains, what do you really need to fulfill your dreams? Well, that’s actually up to you. So in the comment section, I’d be interested to hear what are your goals & dreams? And what steps or actions are you taking to achieve them?

Ask Jay #15 –– How Do I Stay Focus After Working Towards My Dreams for 3 Years?

Question:

I need your advice I’ve been working towards my dreams for the last three in a half years, but I’ve only seen a moderate amount of success. I know that you’ve written about the “process” and how to push through it, but I feel as if I’ve been losing motivation lately. I need your help can you please give me some advice?

– Anonymous

Answer:

This is a common problem we all encounter from time to time especially after the initial excitement of our dream wears off. When we first write down our goals and dreams we are filled with joy and optimism. But when we are overwhelmed with obstacles, boredom or just lack of focus continuing going after said goal can be challenging. Here are three methods that can help you regain focus on your dream.

1. Simplify Your Goals – When we have massive goals, the road can be long and may be quite some time till we will see a reward for our efforts. When we take on a goal the first step we need to do is give ourselves a “pep talk”. Reassuring ourselves that we will feel rewarded at the end of our pursuit is like driving with no fuel.

2. Value Success – Sometimes when we are so focused on a specific goal we don’t take the time to be thankful for all the smaller success we have on the road to our ultimate goal.

3. Write Down Your Goals – To help us focus on our goals writing them down or create a vision board will assist in training our mind to think more about our goals and actually achieving them. Also, our brain thinks in terms of images so, if you choose the right pictures, it will serve as both an enjoyable and effective method to stay focused on your goals.

What are your thoughts how do you stay focus on our goals? Comment below & if you liked this article please share!
